The cover is almost done. Just a day or two now, I think. But since the artist is out doing holiday shopping, I figured I might as well get this post out of the way with the most recent process.

Another week, another look at the dysfunctional kingdoms, city-states and protectorates of the northern continent. Today we have Wyndon, the second protectorate to be actually visited in the series — as opposed to being seen in flashbacks and dreams.

Erica asked me to do Riddian next, but I had to veto that — we don’t see the province of Riddian until Book 3, whereas we start Book 1 in the city-states of Illane. And I actually have a map with them on it!

Deity Profile: The Trifold Goddess
The Trifold Goddess is not a single deity, but an alliance of three entities who share power and act in concert — mostly. They have a few collective names: the Shield, Torch and Hammer; the Maiden, Mother and Matron…and the Slag, Nag and Hag. Generally neutral when it comes to relations with other deities, and indifferent to political, religious or cultural affiliations when offering their blessings to mortals, they are considered trustworthy by most of Halci’s mainland cultures and allowed to operate in peace. The Risen Phoenix Empire is an exception to this rule, but even within the Empire’s borders, Trifold temples and active clergy can be found.
