Updates and some world art.

Been lacking in updates recently, I know.  Trying to adjust to new work schedule.  Book 3 is paused at the first section of chapter 11.  Book 1 is being re-edited for informational content–currently chapters 1 and (the rebuilt version of a previously cut) 2 are looking good.  Planning to refurbish the first quarter or first half of book 1 with better description and updated information, then do another round of pitching.  If nothing hits, the first few chapters will show up here in short order.

In the meanwhile, a few art pieces my friends have been working on for me.

History 01: The Ogre Dominion and the Birth of Humanity

In the aftermath of the wraiths’ withdrawal, the combined skinchanger, elemental and ogre forces found themselves uncertain how to proceed.  They could no longer attack the wraith strongholds, but neither were they directly threatened, and in the pursuit of their enemies they had ignored all former territorial boundaries and drawn together natural foes who now looked upon each other with dismay.

Shaidaxi Reads the Evil Overlord List Pt. 1

Greetings, minions and minionettes.  My transcriptionist is too weary to be clever tonight, so I have regretfully had to step in and break the fourth wall for her.  Well, actually, I don’t regret it; I enjoy the opportunity to talk about myself incessantly for the next several pages.

Cosmology 8: The Withdrawal of the Wraiths and the Struggle for the Grey

At the same time that the Ravager and Guardian were cursing Tirindai, the western skinchangers and elementals were pulling down the flagship Liunaitheia, which belonged to the aggressive captain Darcaniel. Unlike with other fallen ships, which had been knocked down and sometimes half-buried but subsequently retrieved and repositioned by the captains, the elementals chose to tear a chasm in the earth beneath the flagship and plunge it into the lightless depths.

Cosmology 7: The Fourth Flight and the Thorn Curse

With the wraiths finally killable—at least in a manner that would stick for more than a few days—the skinchangers and beast-spirits decided to press their advantage.  Though the beast-spirits had lost much of their connection to their children, they could still strengthen and guide them, as well as manifest when enough of them were in the same place.  Thus they began organizing the first real regiments of fighting skinchangers so that they could empower the greatest amount to fight the wraiths.

Cosmology 6: The Wraith War, the Mask and the Breach of the Grey

The war against the wraiths came in seasonal waves, for the upheaval of the weather took decades to abate.  In late spring and throughout the summer and autumn, skinchangers of all clans would harry the wraith towers, shattering or imprisoning any of their enemies they could catch.  Every destroyed wraith inevitably coalesced back at one of the towers to take on a new body, but imprisonment was just as problematic; if given access to sunlight, the wraiths could eventually draw enough power to destroy their own glass-like bodies, usually injuring their captors in the process.  Keeping them underground eventually reduced them to somnolence, but their fellows could detect their presence and invariably raided the prison-camps to retrieve them.

Cosmology 5: The Moon’s Effect and the Falling Stars

In the aftermath of the arrival of the moon, a gap was seen in the Chain of Ydgys.  Fearing to damage the delicate moon-shadow or the world of Halci itself, Light refrained from reaching out to repair the gap, though he tried to use his radiance to exert some influence over the displaced shards.  Too slowly, they began to close the space.
