Monday Music: Mesh — Hold It Together

Mesh — Hold It Together, from the album A Perfect Solution.  Synthpop.

This is a song I think I should have posted a little while ago, when The Living Throne was fresh, but I keep forgetting it’s Monday and I hate to post a Monday Music on a non-Monday.  It’s one of the major character-songs I’d had in mind for Book 3, and I listened to it heavily whenever I was going to write an Enkhaelen section.  Actually, I listened to it regularly throughout Book 2 too, because it’s a good window into his psychology.

Lyrics:

Only you know where the line is
Only you know what you’ve done
Only love can make your eyes sting
In your world without the sun
And there’s so much time for thinking
That your head just might explode

But
You hold it together, and you can last forever
You carry around the bruises, trapped behind the walls
But it was worth it all

Only you know you deserve it
Because you know how the acid burns
Take his broken limbs and twist them
And keep on twisting ’til he learns
And it’s time to face your demons
If all those demons hadn’t left you alone…

Because
You hold it together, and you can last forever
You carry around the bruises, trapped behind the walls
But it was worth it all

You serve your sentence, no excuses
You serve your sentence, no excuses
You’re lonely after all…
